The negs look good.
This afternoon I will make some prints and maybe scan them
tomorrow.
I like this lens. :-)
But for general use I'm going to look for either
(1) apo-nikkor 420/9 and a thornton-pickard shutter (or
maybe
canibalize a baby speed), or
(2) nikkor-m 450/9.
The former because of the image characteristics, esp. @
the price.
The latter just because of size, though they do tend to be
pricey.

Ok, some quick & dirty scans. Just 200 dpi with some
moisture
remaining on the paper.

Shot with no filter
Printed with just a touch of yellow for a little lower
contrast.

I like the image rendering of the Protar VII.
Oh, if only there were a shutter speed beyond 1/75!
I wonder what the cost would be to put these into a Copal 3?

What kind of shutter is it in now? 1/75th sounds like a
Compound. If so its a perfectly good and very reliable
shutter despite the air-brake regulator. Getting a large
shutter to run at high speeds is not trivial and often the
top marked speeds are illusory since they apply to the full
aperture and at smaller apertures the opening and closing
times cause the effective speed to be slower.
