rec.photo.equipment.slr-systems - NG charter reminder
Recently many participants of these NGs have engaged the "P&S troll". While the topic of P&S is acceptable in alt.phot and rec.photo.digital, it is not acceptable in r.p.d.slr-systems. From the slr-systems charter [extract]: - - - QUOTE - - - What Is Considered Off-Topic: - Discussion of digital point-and-shoot, ZLR, rangefinder, or any other non-SLR digital cameras - Discussion of any cameras with non-detachable lenses - - - /QUOTE - - - Please remove the rec.photo.digital.slr-systems NG from the newsgroup x-posts where P&S cameras are concerned. Just trying to increase the signal/noise. Cheers, |

Just trying to increase the signal/noise. I'm only subscribed to alt.photography, don't want to subscribe to a lot of newsgroups, and would miss the often informative comment which relates to any camera regardless of type. Perhaps, people could just practice good social hygiene and ignore the troll. -- Charles E Hardwidge |

Such does not preclude discussing DSLR's on rpd or alt.p, but it does preclude discussing P&S on the rpd.slr-systems NG. |

Most of the P&S and SLR specific content I've seen percolating into alt.photography is, to be honest, minimal. Maybe YOU should prune stuff from everywhere else if it's SLR *specific* content, hmmm? That would only be fair instead of creating the impression you want to have your cake and eat it. Trolls just want to disrupt and divide. If people get sucked into arguments and separate out into groups that just weakens the collective. The troll will just have their ego boosted and go to town on the crumbs. Organisations which go that way wind up bankrupt so lets not lose out heads. If people ignore the trolling and stay reasonable the problem will diminish. So, yes. Exercise some care where we post, and don't swallow the bait. -- Charles E Hardwidge |

That's exactly what the troll wants. They're going to keep it up and insert cross-posts anyway but if all the groups have a single and coherent vision of topicality and social hygiene this situation could turn to our advantage. And it was incredibly rude of you just to trim newsgroups without mentioning it especially as you unilaterally started the topic by cross-posting. If I hadn't caught that my contribution to this issue that you feel motivated enough to raise would've been lost. -- Charles E Hardwidge |

Perhaps all should all be x-posted together to avoid any suggestion of elitism. |

I'm not going to debate this with you. I do suggest that the following might be enlightening. http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/what-is/part1/ |
