Default Street photography?

I took this shot of a musician enjoying himself, on a nice warm night on
the Savannah River. Rather than show a literal postcard of this guy, I
have tried to convey my feeling while listening to him.

Never touched the stuff. I don't need it.
I know a lot of people don't like this style, but to me the important
thing is that I do. Your comment shows the image made an impact on you,
even if negative. At least you looked.

Ah but is it art that's the important Q ... jonas, tony, nospam ? ;-)

You decide.

The only thing of real importance is that you are happy with what you've
done. I view photography the same way, i suspect. I engage in it
because I enjoy it. I don't fancy myself a "photographer", I don't
think I have a very good eye. Sometimes I get a nice shot. I take
pictures and enjoy it, along with being a slight gear-head. I've also
met some nice people as a result of my hobby and those friendships make
it more worthwhile.

I can't unless it's put up for sale ;-)

In that case, I failed to communicate with you.

I tend to enjoy over-the-top stylization.
However, I find the head+hat style
too different from the rest of the picture.
It throws the picture out of balance
for me.
Using the head+hat style on some other
elements [maybe hands and/or guitar ]
might balance things out for me.
Ah, but it's your art; your interpretation
of your experience.

That can't really be called Street Photography.

It is absolutely an interesting abstraction though. Just the
kind of thing that causes some to screem murder, and others
to screem wow.

Fair comment. did a partial mask of his head because it keeps a touch or
realism in that he is shown singing.
BTW if you are interested in playing with those styles, I use Corel
Painter Essentials and copy it to a layer.
You can get other varieties of painterly effects by using Topaz
Impressions, and Jixpix Impresso.
