[SI] Rejected Erotica Shot
Hi folks. My SI contribution was apparently not accepted by the host
because the image revealed the human breast. It is peculiar to me that sexualisation of the female anatomy is so generalised in the United States. I am slightly confused, because I do remember seeing at least one, or two teats in previous mandates. There is also the prominent lesbian French kiss image, which serves as a thumbnail icon for one of the galleries. Mr. Jolicoeur's image was arguably more sexual than mine, and it was not left out … probably because it was his brief. Oh, well, I will stop ranting. I was once a very frequent contributor to this newsgroup. Having gone entirely digital, I don't post here much any more, but I still lurk around because of the SI. I probably will stop, and I definitively shall not submit any more images. R.P.D. is too much of a collegiate dormitory for my liking, but I suppose I will be participanting in the specialized DSLR newsgroup from now on. The SI contributors of various skill levels, from Mike Henley to Gordon Moat, should all be commended for fulfilling the briefs nicely, and for keeping it interesting. Great stuff. I was one of a few people who were asked to rate it and I rated it as acceptable for the SI. I hope Al will reconsider his decision. According to the rulz the SI admin has _sole_ veto power in these matters regarding the "PG" line). Having said that, Al, in the interests of objectivity, did not make the decision on his own and consulted some of the long time supporters and contributors of the SI for a balanced view. Yes, nudity is a big issue in the US. Remember Janet "boobery" Jackson at the super bowl? Such a thing is much more tolerated in Canada and a complete non issue here in Quebec as it is in most of Europe. But the US is more prudish in this regard. So Al, again, please reconsider. The _world_ is watching. I was also, as I have a copy of it, going to post it on my site tonight in any case. Cheers, Alan. -- -- r.p.e.35mm user resource: http://www.aliasimages.com/rpe35mmur.htm -- [SI gallery]: http://www.pbase.com/shootin -- [SI rulz]: http://www.aliasimages.com/si/rulz.html -- e-meil: there's no such thing as a FreeLunch. |

PG actually does allow partial nudity, as long as there is no sexual contact. Boobs are OK, but no bush. Isn't the SI actually PG13? -- "We are twice armed if we fight with faith." Isn't the SI actually PG13? I really don't know the definitions of what is G/PG, etc... Most of the modern world finds the US definitions of what can be shown or not shown quite baffling. You will happilly let kids watch violent programs involving weapons of all sorts, but seeing a boob on national television results in fines for the networks. Why is it that men's breasts and nipples can be shown on television (and touched!) and women's cannot? I respect Al's decision in this, he is the admin, but he does live in Taliban controlled territory ...
