It seems to me it would be in Google's interest. They must get some
benefit from providing the Usenet interface. If enough people drop
Usenet, that wouldn't help Google get any benefit from their effort. I
know lots of people who have given up newsgroups to use only web based
discussion groups, usually moderated.
