nikon lenses are not flimsy and use a bayonet mount, not threads.

you turned it the assumed clockwise direction, it snapped the focus sensor

the focus sensor is in the base of the mirror box, behind the mirror,
or during live view, the image sensor itself is used. it cannot be
damaged by doing something wrong with the lens.
