There are also slip-in type roll holders that go in in front of the focusing panel as sheet film holders do. But this is as inconvenient as removing the focusing panel and replacing it with a roll holder. Just curious. why do you think it's as inconvenient to slip a roll film holder under the ground glass, photograph, and remove the holder as it is to remove the ground glass frame, find a safe place to put it, insert the roll film holder, photograph, remove the roll film holder, retrieve the ground glass frame, and put the ground glass frame back in the camera. Either way is time-consuming and intervenes between final focus/compose and shooting. The Graflok focusing panel comes off very easily. A 2x3 focusing panel fits in a pocket, and so does a 2x3 Graflex-made roll holder. Attaching the Graflex-made roll holder to the back puts a little less torque on the camera than inserting a slip-in holder. I say Graflex-made to make it clear that I'm talking about a holder made to attach to a Graflok back. The slip-in holder fits in a pocket, is pretty easy to insert and remove. But everything has to be locked up tight to get it in without shifting the camera a little. For 2x3 both types of holders are about equally good. Or equally bad. For 4x5, well, then the holders are larger and more-or-less equally less conveniet. 4x5 requires larger pockets that 2x3. Cheers, Dan |

I didn't write the second sentence of the first paragraph below that you
attribute to me. Someone else said that and you've merged it with the tings I did write. But that's o.k., I still don't understand why having to remove, store, and then replace the ground glass frame is just as inconvenient as not having to do any of those things but I'll take your word for it. Maybe the problem is that I live in Florida and we don't wear coats when we photograph. : - ) "Dan Fromm" wrote in message om... "Shelley" wrote in message news:SCxld.2762$h15.2138@trnddc07... Shelley, you left out a part: "slip and drop the ground glass and then drop the roll film holder" "into the dirt", then "clean them", and of course, all the cussing. In the immortal words of Mark Twian, "profanity offers a form of relief denied even to prayer". |
