What the 20D will allow me to do is to take better pictures. And isn't that what it's all about? How? Seriously...ask yourself if two extra megapixels is really going to make that much more of a difference. When I went from the D30 to the D60 I doubled my resolution, but it didn't improve my photography any. Were you shooting birds at long range? As I said before, It's hard to fill the frame with an eagle from 700 yards away. This one was closer to 300 yards. http://www.pbase.com/image/33013972 |

As long as you believe the camera is the deciding factor in taking better pictures I expect to see another couple of years of sharp, perfectly exposed bird, dog, and insect pictures here. More power to ya. In shooting wildlife, especially birds, it is easy to run up against the limits of what a camera can do. For example, I'll be interested to see if the 20D has improved focus-tracking over the D60. And I'll welcome the extra stop or two of speed that the higher ISOs afford. I don't disagree with you . In fact, the same is true for sports photography. Longer, sharper, wider aperture lenses and quicker digital cameras with bigger buffers will allow you to take more of the same photos better than you have been taking them. I guess what I'm saying is maybe it's time to move beyond those images and into images with impact, emotion, and durability. I know this is an equipment newsgroup,(warning, sacrilege to follow) but maybe it's time you looked into some workshops and upgraded the biggest factor in making good images. |
