Thanks for reminding me why I haven't joined the digital age yet...

Good luck waiting for it to level off.

No intent to hold my breath. I know it won't - soon. But nonetheless, they
do have a convenience factor...

Is $1500 really worth the minimal improvements of the 20D over the D60?

Not to you, obviously.

Unless you are making large prints, the resolution will not result in
greater image quality.

Not true. More megapixels means more area for cropping. Sometimes it's hard
to fill the frame with an eagle that is 700 yards away.

Other things seem like minor conveniences...unless
you really need that low-noise 1600 ISO setting.

Faster frame rates, lower noise, higher ISOs, and enhanced White Balance
customization are more than just minor conveniences.
I call them major improvements.

I ordered the 20D not because I have to have it. I could keep going with the
Totally Digital D60, probably for another 30,000 shots. I don't care about
being the first on my block to own the 20D. Nobody on my block cares.

What the 20D will allow me to do is to take better pictures. And isn't that
what it's all about?

I figured that since I'm going to Hawaii for vacation, I might as well take a
great cammy with me. One of my regrets from past trips is that I didn't have
too many great photos to take back home. I took plenty of fine photos, at
least as fine as my lowly 2.1 MP Kodak could capture.
I'll post a gallery of them soon. And if the cammy doesn't get here before I
leave, I'll cancel the order (and buy my wife one for Christmas).

With that much disposable income, I'm curious to know what you do for a
living...

All income is disposable, dude. That's what it's for. FYI, I'm quite sure I
earn less than 99% of the folks here. But I spend a much greater % of my
income on my hobby than most people do. I live in a small house in an old
neighborhood. My car has over 150,000 miles on it. I wouldn't question you if
you decided to buy a new Lexus. Different strokes....

As former QB, Jim McMahon once told me, "We're here for a good time, not a long
time."

Hmmmm, I wonder what that new 580EX Speedlight would look like on the 20D?

I admire your modesty. If the truth be known, most of the WORLD doesn't
care.
