P&S aren't crap. They are just more limited. A decent P&S, operating in its
sweet spot, produces fine images. Not as good as a good DSLR, but serious
pixel peeping is needed to tell the difference.

The sweet spot is good lighting, limited action, limited lens range. Outside of
that, the DSLR wins.

I own both, use both, and am happy with both.
