OsX or MacOS - which should I go with?

That's like asking "I'm going to switch from MacOOZE to Windows. Should I jump right into Windows XP, or should I start with the original Windows 3.0?" :-) Forget MacOS 9. It sucks. It blows major chunks. No, it doesn't. No, it isn't. I'd still take it over any Windows operating system any day. It's officially dead and unsupported as far as Apple is concerned. New development is unsupported. Classic is still supported under OS X. Unless you are studying ancient history, there is no other choice than OS X. .... with the classic environment if you have old favorite software. But otherwise, you're right. -- Timberwoof me at timberwoof dot com http://www.timberwoof.com http://www.sorryeverybody.com/gallery/200/ |

And never mind that if you get a new machine, you're going to get OSX anyway. Skip OS9- that is for the old time Mac users with old software. Go directly to OSX 10.3 (Panther) and don't look back. It will include 9 anyway (it will be called Classic) to run any old pre OSX software you may have. OSX Panther is a very very stable, relatively unhackable UNIX platform and it is far better than the older Mac OS. Considering the OLD OS was better than anything in Windoze, you can imagine what 10.3 will do. And 10.4 is coming out very soon. -- Michael |Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain! |
