Default Failed Backup Pics

Cam Johnson wrote:
Here's my dilemma. I run an auto backup nightly of various docs, etc. I
also do so with photos (jpegs) that reside in folders in a photo
directory. Recently I purchased a Canon Rebel XS. I have several
folders I have created over the last few months containing the
downloaded photos from that camera only. I backup to both an internal
secondary drive as well as a manual backup to an external drive.

Upon checking the folders that had been backed up to both secondary and
external I find that I cannot access the folders containing the Canon
photos. I receive an error saying 'access denied, make sure the disk is
not right protected or full'. When I mouse over the folders they say
'empty'. Keep in mind their are other folders of digital pics residing
there and with those I have no problem, only with the folders containing
these Canon photos.

I thought I would just copy and paste (manually) one of the folders from
the primary drive to the secondary and just overwrite the offending
folder but again error'ed out. I attempted to delete the offending
folder and again was not allowed. I had to run an unlocker utility to
delete the folder(s) and then I was able to manually copy and paste them
into the secondary storage drive. The last thing I attempted was running
the backup utility on just a few of the Canon jpegs sans folder. They
showed up on the secondary but when I attempted to open them w/
Irfanview it said "can't read file header. unknown file format or file
not found"

Not sure where I should really ask about this as I'm not sure whether
it's an OS (WinXP) issue, a Canon issue or the SD card. The backup
utility I use is Delta Copy and the logs show no errors.

tia for any assistance, Cam

Sounds like your first problem is with the Delta Copy backup software,
or the underlying rsync used by Delta Copy.

I'd suggest going to the vendor on this problem. From
http://www.aboutmyip.com/AboutMyXApp/FAQList.do?cid=1, the following
looks somewhat promising:

"I am running into permission problems when accessing files copied
through DeltaCopy Server." --
http://www.aboutmyip.com/AboutMyXApp...ayFAQ.do?fid=8

Perhaps you already had cygwin installed and DeltaCopy is using an
incompatible rsync version.

Regarding copying the files manually, just to start at the beginning; do
the jpegs in the source folder open correctly?
