As I understand it, anything that furthers Zionism is legal there and anything that impedes it is illegal. (Which I wouldn't mind *quite so much* if they weren't footing the bill with my tax dollars.) not only do you not understand much about technology, but you also don't understand much about israel. The Razen has been out for some time, I wonder if anyone using it has been...exploited because of reasons the company stated? There should be some reports on it. Linus Torvalds went on a long rant about it: https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer...cpus-critical- flaws-linus-torvalds-fake The gist of his point was that one needs admin access to the BIOS in order to exploit the claimed bug. In other words, someone discovered that if you give your house keys to another person then its possible they could enter and access "data". most people run as admin, so that's not much of an obstacle. for those that don't, all that's needed is a root exploit. the bigger problem is the hardware itself can be compromised, so even if you wipe and reinstall, you're still pwned. Nospam was just indulging his contrariness and Apple mania. i never mentioned apple. this has nothing to do with apple. There's certainly no story there now. There probably won't be one. oh, there is a story. |

The company says that it is developing firmware updates for the three PSP flaws. These fixes, to be made available in "coming weeks," will be installed through system firmware updates. The firmware updates will also mitigate, in some unspecified way, the Chimera issue, with AMD saying that it's working with ASMedia, the third-party hardware company that developed Promontory for AMD, to develop suitable protections. In its report, CTS wrote that, while one CTS attack vector was a firmware bug (and hence in principle correctable), the other was a hardware flaw. If true, there may be no effective way of solving it. |

Not a big deal. And BIOS patches are coming. And few people are affected. I'm certainly not. You were saying people should stick with Intel. Intel CPUs are a far worse bet right now than AMD, in terms of vulnerabilities. But none of the issues is a big deal except on servers. None of the bugs is reason to choose one CPU over the other. I buy AMD because Intel is a sleazy, price-gouging monopolist and without AMD they'd be a lot worse. It's like Mac vs Windows: When one costs 3 times the price of the other, I find that an easy choice. Of course with Mac and Windows there are lots of other factors that may affect peoples' choice. With Intel and AMD, they both make decent CPUs. And those CPUs go in the same computers. So there's no excuse for Intel's pricing. I've used only AMD in my computers and computers I've built for others for about 20 years now. So before you start spreading lots more misinformation, I'll just mention to anyone who cares that there's nothing to be overly concerned about. Here's the story: https://community.amd.com/community/...-labs-research (Also note, 2 bugs are in a chipset, so they can also affect Intel boxes.) |

But none of the issues is a big deal except on servers. None of the bugs is reason to choose one CPU over the other. I buy AMD because Intel is a sleazy, price-gouging monopolist and without AMD they'd be a lot worse. It's like Mac vs Windows: When one costs 3 times the price of the other, I find that an easy choice. only when one has 3 times the specs. you obviously drive a yugo because toyota makes the same thing and it costs 10x as much, mercedes even more so. Of course with Mac and Windows there are lots of other factors that may affect peoples' choice. yep. surprising as it may seem, people buy based on functionality, ease of use and user experience and not just the cheapest crap they can find. With Intel and AMD, they both make decent CPUs. And those CPUs go in the same computers. So there's no excuse for Intel's pricing. prices are what people are willing to pay. anything less is leaving money on the table. since amd overall isn't as good as intel, their only option is to compete on price. if it was better, they could charge more. I've used only AMD in my computers and computers I've built for others for about 20 years now. apparently you are unaware that laptops have outsold desktops for over a decade and mobile is currently outselling laptops. do you set them up with windows xp or do you at least install something current? |
