CCD designer got Nobel price
Kind a late, but guy deservet the price.
One thing, talking on the the canadian news about his invetion, they said that CCD are in digital cameras and they were showing constantly DSLR cameras. I don't believe there are DSLR with CCD sensor, are there? |

For that matter, Oly uses NMOS based sensors in some of their cameras. |

Just to be equally transparent, CCD isn't just for sensors either :-) CCD's are predominantly used as imagers for all but the strangest of applications. The original intent of the design was for use in what is called 'bubble memory'. I think you miss my point. So.. Extending some of the transparency, CCD is a specific implementation of logic (as would be a field programmable gate array) where CMOS is a specific process by which a wide variety of chips (and logic) can be made. Just so happens you can make an imaging sensor with the CMOS process. -- thepixelfreak |
