Tripods

Hello folks. Got a cheapo tripod, but it is a bit wobbly. Thinking of getting something a bit more sturdy. Hopefully one that will serve for macro stuff as well (upside down). A quick glance at Amazon and I see names like Xcsource and Caseflex in the mid-range price-wise, with the cheaper end dominated by Hama. I am *not* a serious photographer, but I'd like to dedicate more time to photography and I like the idea of taking photos that are actually focussed on something. Recommendations? Several things to think about. Are you going to be carrying it about much? Hiking? How heavy is your camera? Are you doing video? FWIW I have a Hahnel Triad 30 Lite for hiking, this is fine with my G10 and just about OK with the Fuji X-E1 and a 200 mm lens. Very light and compact, without paying carbon fibre prices. For video or if I need a more solid mount I use a Velbon DV-7000. A proper damped pan and tilt head makes a *lot* of difference to video. |
