Is there a gadget that can be hooked to a camera so that pictures can
be viewed in larger format on the gadget's screen immediately after
they are taken?
Thanks.

You could get a prism, as used to be advertised in the 60's that you'd
place in front of your TV to "enlarge" the view. What you gain in size
you lose in sharpness, so I wouldn't do it.

What camera have you? Does it not have a button to enlarge (zoom in) an
area of the image on the back?

Your best bet would be to invest in a notebook computer. It will show
you the images and also allow you to download from your cards.

Yes - it's called a 'laptop computer'.

Any laptop, notebook, netbook, ...

Other possible candidates I would be looking into are those clunky cell
phones with the big screens. Mabye there are some models that can read
an external USB mass storage devises or have a memory card slot. Same
for external DVD players.
And although you don't hear much about them any more I seem to remember
that there were some image tanks that had a build-in screen, too.

What you are asking about is called tethered shooting. Whether you can
do this with your camera I can't say - not knowing what camera you have
- but all Nikon DSLRs can be used in this way. You connect the camera to
a laptop via a USB cable and run some software called Camera Control on
the laptop. Immediately you take a shot it is displayed on the laptop's
screen.

HTH :-)

Use the vidoe out port on the camera to connect to any type of
TV/video monitor.
