First snow
On our way to a halloween party, snapped this. Regrettably, left tripod
at home, so shot this at ISO 400 with the in camera stabilization. Punched the blacks quite a bit. Largish (800 kB or so - 1500 pixels wide). http://gallery.photo.net/photo/11879654-lg.jpg -- gmail originated posts filtered due to spam. |

Then again I think he lives in Ontario and that would apply to the great majority of the people there. -- gmail originated posts filtered due to spam. |

Went into a small store to buy a shoe lace. The clerk asked us to wait. We waited only because he left the door open and disappeared. 20 minutes later he came back. It turned out he had gone to a competitor to get my shoelaces. I asked someone walking out of a restaurant whether it was any good. He said yes it was, but one about 2 blocks away was much better. I learned later that this guy was the owner of the first restaurant. -- Peter |

If one were in a mood to make generalizations, he might conclude that folks in Ontario are unusually honest and eager to please. ;^) Trusting people are usually honest. I am still amazed that the clerk/owner left us alone in the store. In the case of the restaurant, the owner of the second place said that the two of them are friendly competitors. I used to go for reserve training at Camp Drum, (now Fort Drum) and used to sneak off to Ontario. Each time the people I met were warm and friendly. The trip with my wife was a drive we took to duplicate a portion of a trip described by Steinbeck in his book, Travels With Charley. (We left the kids hoe and took the dog.) -- Peter |
