No one can. But three years is the limit for Apples extended warranty
"Apple Care"... If you buy an iMac you should plan for your next
purchase within 3 years.

nonsense.

just because the warranty expires doesn't mean the computer does.

never said so. you're lyingly twisting me words! so stop doing that!!

that is what you said.

why plan for a new purchase if the computer continues to work?

i only said that if you wan't to have your tco in check you better do
the above...

which is totally wrong.

computers can keep working for years. they may not be able to run the
latest software, but if what they're doing is sufficient then there's
no reason to replace it.

no. learn to read.

imacs are not meant to user fixable. stuff like that tend to die without
warning. then the computer needs to be replaced.

neither are cars, tvs, microwave ovens and just about everything else.
so what?

stuff like that tend to die without
warning. then the computer needs to be replaced.

nonsense. imacs don't tend to die without warning and if they do fail,
you take it to a repair shop and have it fixed.

you might be, but the imac is not the only mac apple makes and this
applies to non-apple products too.

thus you have to plan the cost of repair an ultimately renewal...

having a three year old computer professionally repaired at a shop would
usually be a waste of time and money. imnsho. hobbyist do it for kicks
but we are talking average users here...

eventually, but not at 3 years.

not necessarily. it depends what's wrong.

commonly, a hard drive fails, which is not expensive to replace, and if
it's replaced with an ssd, it breathes new life into the system.

computers can keep working for years. they may not be able to run the
latest software, but if what they're doing is sufficient then there's
no reason to replace it.

i wasn't talking about gadgets.

apple sells 3 times as many mac laptops as they do desktops, and the
desktops include not just the imac, but the mac mini and mac pro.

it doesn't matter what computer it is. there is no reason to replace it
just because the warranty ran out.
