Nikon won't introduce mirrorless of an quality because they are afraid. Now Sony releases a successor APS camera and it's NOT a NEX-7 successor. Are they afraid a really good NEX-7 successor would suck sales from the A7 series, which would mean fewer high-priced lens sales as well??

It is a NEX 7 successor. Sony just stopped using the "NEX" name a
while ago. And that cam looks really nice!

But they didn't introduce IBIS (while they did, when they jumped from A7
* to A7* II). And the lens situation is not getting better.

On the other hand, Sony is impressive as they maintain four camera
lines: the APS-C A-mount, the FF A-mount and the APS-C E-mount and the
FF E-mount. As a comparison, Olympus is only maintaining one camera line
(m4/3).

Sony produce impressive bodies, but I guess they have no R&D resources
left to develop lenses for all these bodies.
