Default making photograms w\16m film - any advice?

Hi,

Im trying to make 16mm photograms (not stills), at the moment i am
using Agtha STA (with ISO\ASA of 80) negative film,

Do you mean Agfa?

Ive found exposing for 2-3 seconds works well.
Ive been using paper developer instead of film developer, what sort of
difference will this make - i am new to home developing.

Paper developer will probably yield a grainier negative than film developer would.

The images come out pretty well. But appear a little purple, (someone
said i should leave the film in the fixer\stop bath longer.

The purple is a coating on t-grained films. You get rid of it by adequating
rinsing of the film after development (or even beetween the developer and fixer
baths). I find that the use of Permawash eliminates the coloration fastest.

Also, it seems like after a point of time in the developer it stops
darkening the image. Can i leave the film in there indefinitely.

You have me there. I am very careful to regulate the time film spends in
developer. I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that film development
proceeds without completion, unlike paper development.

Any advice?

Cheers!
