IR filter with Sony 828?
I have seen an IR filter on Ebay with a claim that it can be used with my
Sony 828 camera to take landscapes which look very pretty. Is this true?.... because I would like to try IR landscapes but thought it required a camera modification to the sensor. Please reply if you know about IR and a Sony camera. Thank you Helen |

IR filter with Sony 828?..Thanks Gisle...
and sorry for posting twice...my mail sever went down and I thought it was
not posted. So I will buy a Hoya R72 and switch to Nightshot to get those lovely IR landscapes. Thank you for replying. Regards Helen Don't know about that ebay filter, but Sony f828 will do nice IR landscapes if you fit it with a standard Hoya R72 IR filter and switch it into "nightshot" mode (this mode removes an internal IR-blocking filter.) You should use a tripod, and if the scene is very bright, yuo may also need to fit a ND (neutral desity) filter. Sony has restricted "nightshot" mode to full aperture and shutter times 1/30 second or less to stop people from using it during the day, but fitting an IR- and/or ND-filter gets around that. -- - gisle hannemyr [ gisle{at}hannemyr.no - http://folk.uio.no/gisle/ ] ================================================== ====================== «To live outside the law, you must be honest.» (Bob Dylan) |

There are many. Depending on the effect, the equipment used and the available IR your choice could be between: RG 610, RG630, RG 645, RG 665, RG 695, RG 715, RG 9, RG 780, RG 830, RG 850, RG 1000 All of the above are available from heliopan as well as some other filter manufacturers. You may well find it a mistake to go with just a "standard" IR. -- To reply no_ HPMarketing Corp. |

IR filter with Sony 828?
I made my own IR filter to see if I really wanted an expensive one.
I didn't, but look for "Infrared Experiment" at: http://www.photoprojects.net/sony.html Gene Helen W wrote: I have seen an IR filter on Ebay with a claim that it can be used with my Sony 828 camera to take landscapes which look very pretty.
