Default Can I use Nikon SB-800 on F100 film camera?

Hi, I already have a Nikon film camera F100 and a SB-28 flash. I just
bought a Nikon D70, and it seems SB-28 doesn't work very well on D70. I
am looking at the new Nikon flash SB-800. Some web sites claim that it
works with film camera but I was wondering if it is fully compatible
with F100?

Thanks!

Yes, it should work just as well as the sb-28, if not better. Also, the
SB-800 has a metal foot as opposed to plastic on the sb-28 (I destroyed an
sb-28 climbing a grain elevator to get some photos. The flash banged
against the cage around the ladder and the plastic foot shattered, sending
the flash to its death 30 foot below). The SB-800 also has a simple switch
to lock the flash in the shoe, whereas the sb-28 has a wheel that needs to
be screwed down, and which has a tendency to stick, thus the sb-800 is
easier to mount and dismount.

The SB-800 will work just fine with an F100. It uses the full flash
metering capability of your F100. The SB-800's user guide says that the SB-
800 will support 3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash on your F100.

The Nikon Diffusion Dome that is included with the Sb-800 is a handy
accessory, which I don't think came with the SB-28.

I think that the only feature not supported by the SB-800 on the F100 is
high-Speed flash synchronization. Nikon's documentation says that the Auto
FP High-Speed Sync mode is available only for cameras compatible with CLS
(Creative Lighting System). Once again, I'm not sure whether this was
supported on your SB-28, so you may not miss the feature.

The SB-800 will work with almost any Nikon body in some or other mode. It
even works with my F2.
