Where are these places which add all this sugar? As for Chinese food
joints, the most nasty food additive is MSG.

MSG?

Monosodium glutamate. It enhances flavor,

that's the claim, but the reality is that it stimulates the taste buds.

Chinese food is notorious for
having large amounts of it.

the better places don't add it and you can always ask for no msg from
the ****tier places (and hopefully they comply with the request).

A lot of packaged foods contain it.

some do and it's easy to not buy those.

My
wife cannot tolerate it, she gets headaches from it. A large dose in
food will cause much more than a headache. Fortunately, the effects
don't last long for her but it's still bad for the short time it does
affect her.

easily avoided.

Oh no, don't give me that! ****ty fast food has it's place. Taco Bell is a

mouth in a long time.

there are worse.

White Castle rat burgers. Desperation pseudo-food for junkies.

It also usually pushes most folks over daily sodium intake limits and
is a serious health hazard for hypertensives and those with
questionable kidney function.

MSG can be a killer.

However, some places with good reputations, have been know to over use

it.

My wife has bad reactions to an antioxident chemical put on fruits and
vegetables to keep them from browing, like you would find at a
restaurant salad bar. Many years ago in Kansas City, my wife met me for
lunch at a restaurant. She had our one-year-old son with her. She
wanted a salad and asked if they used an antioxident and was told no,
they never used it. Well, that was a lie. On her way home, she doubled
over in pain while driving and ran off the road. Fortunately she didn't
hit anyone or anything.

sulfites, and if she's sensitive to sulfites, there's a lot of foods
she can't eat.

if she asked about anti-oxidants, then she asked the wrong question.
they may not have been lying about not using anti-oxidants.

in any event, restaurants are not required to disclose sulfite use and
the staff probably hasn't a clue anyway.

anyone with food allergies or sensitivities should be *extremely*
careful when eating at restaurant.

over in pain while driving and ran off the road. Fortunately she didn't
hit anyone or anything.

I think i posted about this before. Product label: "No sugar added"
2nd or 3rd ingredient. Dehydrated organic cane syrup.

You have to CAREFULLY read the labels.

dehydrated organic cane syrup is not the same as sugar.

it doesn't matter if they're equivalent or not. as an ingredient, it's
different.

You have to CAREFULLY read the labels.

yes.

Yup! Sugar can be sneaky, and can cloak itself as carbohydrates.
Diabetics have to pay particular attention to food ingredients.

....then there is alcohol.
