New Fuji Finepix S5000 - problems with!!!

In February I purchased a Fuji Finepix 5000 at Duty Free in Gatwick
Airport. However now things are starting to go wrong with it.

The problems a

1/ The ‘power off' setting is set for two minutes, but it actually
‘powers' off after only 5 seconds. This is irritating in that I have
to keep switching it off and then back on again to keep it powered up.

2/ The flash no longer works – in fact it no longer charges up – even
with brand new digital purpose batteries. I've only ever managed to
take one picture using flash – in March. Basically the flash does not
work – period.

3/ When the battery is running low the display does not warn me with
the usual battery icon – the camera simply stops recording pictures -
period.

4/ Even when switched off the camera seems to be using power since the
batteries quickly run down and require replacing.

Whilst the digital images are superb – even better than film – a
digital camera has much more to go wrong with it, and is FAR more
expensive to run. Be warned!!

Folks - many thanks for your replies. The batteries were fresh, and
new, especially for digital cameras such as the S5000. They were not
cheap!! Its the fact that the flash no longer works - well no longer
charges up - that it of real concern.

I'll have to see what Fuji say about repairing it. Does anyone know of
any discussion forums for the S5000 please?

a brilliant resource for anything related to this camera, and much related
to photography in general. I visit it daily, and post at least weekly.
