Awesome Canon Service !
"Annika1980" wrote in message ... A month or two ago I had to send my Canon 70-200 f/2.8L in for service after it had fallen and torn up the lens mount. It cost me about $200 to get fixed, but when I got it back I swear they sent me a new lens. My old lens was beat all the hell (I'm very tough on equipment) and this thing looked brand new. My 400 f/5.6L lens has been screwed up for some time so last week I sent it in for repair as well. It had all sorts of probs ... the lens hood was stuck open, the lens wouldn't AF at infinity or manual focus at all, and the lens mount plate was loose. It was truly FUBAR. When you send the item to Canon they give you an estimate after examining it, so I knew this one would be high. The estimate came back at $299 for labor only + sales tax & shipping would made it $346. I OK'd the repair since the lens was pretty much worthless to me as is. I just got the lens back via FEDEX and eagerly opened it to see how the repair went. The first thing I noticed was that they shipped the lens in a brand new lens case. So far, so good. Opening the lens case revealed another unexpected twist. It looked like another brand new lens! I knew this wasn't the lens that I sent them since there is no way they could've remove all the dents it had and restored it to like-new condition. Then I noticed the repair slip in the bottom of the box. Under "Service Details" it reads: "We have examined the product according to your request and determined that there was a failure. Unfortunately, the parts needed to repair the unit are not available, so in order to minimize your inconvenience we are replacing the whole unit. Thank you for choosing Canon." Another brand news lens! How's that for service? Another reason why CANON RULES !!! You should know whether you have a different lens or not by checking the serial number.....I have the serial numbers of everything I own on a list inside my computer. All my photographic equipment, all my guns, all my horns and guitars and other instruments and cars, motorcycles and everything I own that is worth anything at all. That way, if something gets lost or stolen, I will be able to tell the police what it was and be able to identify it should they recover it. |

Of course he knows this. Reality has nothing to do with this. It's simply another Canon shill, like all the others... |

Bill has an answer for that. He has all those serial numbers, including that of his computer, tattooed behind his left ... ....er no, this is Bill after all, they are tattooed behind his right ear. -- Regards, Savageduck |
