I guess this means the supply of people willing to pay a hundred bucks for
a brush is dwindling, so they're branching out into the area of "brush
accessories". After all, any brush that costs a hundred bucks must need
a bunch of accessories!

Reminds me of an ad I saw recently for milk that actually said "now
with calcium".

Gee, what will the advertising agency come up with next?

Made the mistake of not cleaning a brush I used and it took a half dozen wet
cleanings to get what they refer to as SIZING off the sensor.

After leaning to PAY ATTENTION when someone says clean the brush, I have been
getting the sensor clean in less time than it takes to talk about it.

Brush: $2.99 nylon FLAT WEDGE SHAPED eye makup brush purchased at CVS Drug
store (it looks identical to the brushes sold by visible dust)

1.Washed brush with Ivory Liquid dish detergent in warm water

2. Rinsed in distilled water 4 times
air dryed.

When blown with dry air or canned air to build a static charge, it will
remove all dust/hair (thats what I had - HAIR! on the sensor) in one pass
over the sensor in each direction. (one left to right one right to left)

Also, the brush works wonders removing dust particles from the mirror and
focus screen, should any get there. (I use a second, seperate brush for this)

After cleaning the sensor, I simply blow the brush off with compressed air
and store it in a (c) Zip Lock bag.

I have a compressor/air dryer at home, but for remote photo shoots I now
bring a can of air with me (3$ at Radio shack) in case I need to "charge up"
the sensor brush.

Im not "Anal" about it, if the dust mote can be fixed with 10 seconds of
clone tool I leave it 'till Im home, but if its a "BIG BLOB" I'll clean it on
site.

Well, you do want to make sure you keep any brush you're using to wipe
your sensor very clean. If you touch the bristles with your hands, for
example, skin oils will be picked up by the bristles.

That said, cleaning need only consist of washing the brush out
thoroughly with dishwashing fluid, rinsing well, and allowing to air
dry. No $10 magic cleaning fluids required.

As another post here said, just be carefull when you buy a brush, as
most have 'sizing' in them (keeps them looking stiff and pretty on the
store shelf), which may require repeated washings to remove before first
use.

I picked up a set of 'sizing-free' brushes inexpensively on eBay (eBay
search on 'sensor brush'). A couple of iterations of canned-air blast
followed by quick, light swipe of the sensor and dust bunnies are gone.
Haven't had to do a wet cleaning since I got them.

Just to check - were the brushes you got the same as these ones?

If so I'll get some myself :-)

Thanks-
