You really want to get into this? Do you have clients, unless you have the
trust fund mentioned earlier you'll need CLIENTS.

To start
4x5 Camera, can be almost any.
flat field APO lens, really like the 210 APO Macro Nikor. But almost any good
process lens would do.
Figure $2K for this

A very good tripod $500 or camera stand $2.5K

Ideally a Betterlight or Phase One Scanning back mid range are $18K new, used
or demos are sold for $5-10K.

2 fluorescent light banks (about $1200 each), you can use tungsten lighting
but it gets hot, a Lowel Totalight set $1200

If you are using film a good strobe set about $4K

You can shoot film but then you need a good scanner, not a flat bed ( well
maybe a very good flatbed figure $5-10K

Last but not least a printer
Minamum would be an Epson 9600 44" wide $4995 or
a Roland HIFI Jet $18K (50")

Color control, Gretag Eye one about $3500 complete.

I've probably missed a few things and a lot of this equipment can be found
used. My prices may be slightly out of date too.

Other costs, paper, canvas, film and processing. Also there is a long learning
curve on all of this, from the photography to the printing.
