How to tell date on Fujichrome?
I purchased a used Nikon F5 and the guy included several rolls of Fujichrome
Provia 100F, and Velvia 50 film. How can I tell the date on them? He said it was about two years old, but should be ok. Thanks, Tom |

They don't print it on the rolls, just on the box. If the film hasn't been keep cool all that time, it probably is not very reliable. I would just use it and send it off to the cheapest processor you can find (i.e. Fuji Mailers or Costco). -- Thomas T. Veldhouse Key Fingerprint: 2DB9 813F F510 82C2 E1AE 34D0 D69D 1EDC D5EC AED1 |

Ha- I share your sympathies on that, but it could be that special roll where aging makes it better Then you put your best stuff into dangerous hands -- Reality-Is finding that perfect picture and never looking back. www.gregblankphoto.com |

Here's a side-by-side comparision of expired vs. fresh: http://www.spinics.net/photo/expired.html What about -expired and stored warm- versus -fresh- ? The expired film was stored warm. The fresh film was purchased one or two days before the shot. -- http://yosemitenews.info/ |

How to tell date on Fujichrome?
Hmmm, the left photo shows more warm colors (towards magenta?)
This is more noticeable in the trunks in the left side of the photos. I suspect the left one is the one which was stored for 1 year outside? Idly speculating, Nick the ALCo-holic |
