Hi, I've had this camera for a number of years now and it has worked
fine but now it seems to have developed a fault.
Whenever I take a photo a pink line appears down the left side of the
image that wasn't obvious when taking the shot.
Is it time to get a new camera?

Do you mean in the camera display or in images that you get out of the
camera onto, eg, a computer?

If it's just the display, IOW, no problem.

Or if it's down the extreme edge of all images, then you can crop it out
if that's acceptable...

Hi Alan, thanks for the reply.

It appears on the extreme edge of all the images.
I do see a broader but fainter line in the display which seems to get
condensed into this thinner but more intense line on the image itself.
I have been cropping it out of the images but am just wondering if it
is something that can be easily rectified.

Probably not economically. At some point you'll have to give in to new
camera lust. Many around here are very, er, romantic in this way.

The curious part of my brain is also wondering how something that
appears in the display can then be transferred onto the picture but
not really understanding digital camera technology doesn't help with
that.

The display is just displaying the fault in the image.

Cheers,
Alan.
