Sorting digital pictures

I am making a Picture Directory for a group with about 550 pictures. I can't
figure a way to sort these pictures by name. All files have been changed to
names. I intend to download them to a disk and then have them printed.Any
advice would be appreciated.

You mean alphabetically?

If you're in windows explorer (or "My Computer", etc.), simply go to the
view menu and click: "Arrange icons by" then click "name."

Most image managers let you do this (among a zillion other sorting options).

Do you have any photo editing software? Photoshop Elements 3 allows
you to organize your pictures in any category of your choosing, i.e.:
vacation shots, location shot in, types of scenes, people, date
taken... It also allows you to rename groups of shots at the same time
i.e.: daughter/sons wedding and start with any number you choose. I
have found this to be very helpful organizing my all my shots quickly
and easily.

You can then select an entire category for printing or depending on
your burning software drag and drop then onto a CD
