Default Problem downloading C-740 to Mac

I've got a Mac running OS 10.2.6. I've tried everything to get 740 to
download but it doesn't work except every blue moon by chance. I even
got an AC power supply on the advice of Olympus help desk who said it
takes a lot of juice from the camera to get the download working, but
that hasn't fixed the problem.

Any advice???? Thanks.

Spend around $20 and get a USB card reader. The pics will go straight to
iPhoto. I have never directly downloaded directly from a camera to a
computer for all the years I have had digital cameras, on a PC or Mac.
