I'm looking for a critique of the following photo:

http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1835425

How does that picture look to you? I took this during our "Light up
Cincinnati" event. Exposure was 30 seconds @ f/11, Fuji Reala. The
picture is unedited, however I plan on editing out the truck on the
bottom left corner. Any composition changes you would make? Any
adjustments? I'm always looking to improve my skills; after 13 years
I'm still learning.

Thanks in advanced.

Nice image. The one thing I can think of is that there might be too much
sky...too much dead space. If there were clouds to fill it in then I think
it might work, but of course it is a night shot. Try cropping some of it
out and see how that looks.

Good luck, and keep up the work.

On an exposure of this length, it is possible to control the exposure
of the brighter areas by 'dodging' just as in a print in a darkroom,
by waving your hands in front of the lens to 'hold back' the exposure
to those areas. You may want to try that on your next attempts. Be
sure to move your hands quickly to avoid any distinct lines!

Nice! I would leave the truck in...adds animation to otherwize
static composition. Print two hairs darker over all except our flag.

Keep the truck, it makes the picture IMO.
What brand is the truck? I think the picture looks like an ad in one of
those upmarket magazines.
Try selling it to an ad agency.

The truck is good. But it is not good that wheel of the truck touches
a border of the picture. Do you have a original picture a little bit
bigger? {Several milimeters will be enough.]

And light that is touching the right border will be better to cut-off.

Good luck,

Darkening the sky, IMHO, would make for a more dramatic picture. Other than
that, very nice shot. And yes, leave the truck.

Quite an interesting photo. Good job overall. However, to be honest,
it is a bit over exposed for me...1-2 stops. There are are a number
of zones in the image that are washed out, for example the sides of
some of the buildings and the flag. Less exposure, while sacrificing
some shadow detail, would increase contrast and create -- in my
opinion -- a more striking picture. Also, the foreground (the casino
boat AND the truck) is somewhat distracting. The skyline in of itself
is great, and the reflected image off the water would have been
spectacular.

While I certainly can't change the vantage point and other factors,
see the attached image to see an example of what I am suggesting.

Keep up the good work. Time exposures are fun!
