Wrong guy. I'm fairly reviled on the Mac/iPhone groups for my criticisms
of various Apple things.

That said, the Apple environment (h/w//s/w integration and cross product
integration) runs rings around everyone else. And the new M1 based Macs
are the beginning of a great evolution in the Mac line. It's pretty
stunning, actually.

not just the mac line, but it's about to flip the industry on its ass.

one of the more amusing benchmarks was a final cut render of a 4k (or
maybe 8k) video on an intel macbook versus a new m1 macbook.

the intel macbook drained its battery and had to be plugged in to
continue the task to completion.

meanwhile, the m1 macbook finished in less time and did so with
something like 75% battery remaining.

this is from memory so numbers may not be exact.

and that's with the *slowest* of the apple silicon macs...
