Thanks in advance. nobody Forgive my ignorance, I've never heard of silverfast. Google brings it up as scanner software, basic editing for scanners. Nothing like PS outside that arena. |

Silverfast v Photoshop
Mark,
I Googled it: http://www.silverfast.com/overview/en.html It's a software that accompanies scanners apparently. I never used it either. To: "nobody": Generally, software that accompany a scanner / camera, etc. are adequate, but to my knowledge, do not replace "specialised" software. This was the same, even for Photoshop LE. It was doing a job adequately, but could not compete with the full version. My 2 cents. Marcel |

Silverfast v Photoshop
Thanks to Marcel and others. Somebody (not me) scans 8 x 10 transparencies
with a Lacie scanner, he said that he used silverfast. It looks like in his case silverfast might be complementary to photoshop rather than instead of photoshop. Sorry if I confused anybody. nobody Ps: still, his results should be awesome: 8 x 10 scan !! And he said that that size was not enough for him, he was going for something bigger!! It does (at least in its' full version) allow the use of curves to modify the scanning process and that perhaps would lead someone to believe that it could be used instead of Photoshop. While it is considered top line scanning software it is in no way a competitor of PS. Chuck |

You'd think so, depends a lot on the film and what is there, I have a about 100 8x10 images versus about 2,000 4x5's- the film plane is easier to get sharp results with the separate cameras. -- Would thou choose to meet a rat eating dragon, or a dragon, eating rat? Seem to be a few links there ;-) Having said that it may be that they are named differently outside the US, bit like Bogen and Manfrotto. Here's a link to one - http://www.ghc.co.uk/acatalog/Index_...nners_431.html Brian |
