Default B&W film vs. convert from color?

Can anyone with experience in this area please advise what, if any,
are the qualitative drawbacks of shooting in color and then converting
to B&W in photoshop vs. shooting in B&W film to begin with?

Thank you for your reply.

It all depends on your desired outcome. Digital can be accepted if:
You don't need The exact look of a Fiber based print, its
accepted if you don't need the longest lasting print available.

The best way to determine is to try it first or at least look at
someone's examples to decide.
