Default Mystery Blue

I took a shot of one of my wife's orchids last week and ran it through
Photoshop CS. The only thing that I did was 'Auto Levels' and it came out
with a blue background. There is nothing in the shadehouse that is blue and
I can't figure out where it came from. My wife likes the photo and I
printed her an 8.5 x 11, which I have to admit looks great. It is he

Can someone tell me how the blue got there?

I would bet, since the predominate color in the picture is yellow,
that something tried to adjust white balance and added the blue to
make things average out.

Autolevels adjusts each RGB channel until it clips very slightly at both
ends. Sometimes this simple filter works great but it's not to be fully
trusted.

I tried a copy of the same photo with Elements and the same thing happened.
I know that I can't depend on the Auto Levels all the time, but this time
the screwup turned out looking pretty good.

I have had Auto Level adjustments not work out in the past, but this was
different. It actually looks pretty good. The blue was so widespread over
the background that I thought there might be a reason for it that even I
could understand.

I Dunno where the blue came from, but the orchids she has are
gorgeous! I Love the deep reds, "Kiilani" and "New City", and
the deep red lip on 'Lea'. Lovely, she does a great job!
