The lens was made in Japan by/for Panasonic but the design
and
manufacturing standards were monitored by Leica Camera.

I haven't used one personally, but a good friend who is
into Four
Thirds uses one on his Olympus E-620. He says it is the
best Four
Thirds lens he has ever used. Previously, he used a Leica
R 35mm SLR
and 100% Leica glass so he knows what makes a good lens.
On film, his
most often used focal length was 50mm, so the Four Thirds
lens
delivers the same angle of view.

He also uses the Leica D 14-50mm f/2.8-3.5 ASPH which was
made for the
short-lived Panasonic L1 and Leica Digilux 3. He says it
is "a gem".

Apart from the excellent sharpness that you would expect
from a Leica
design, the 25mm f/1.4's maximum aperture gives you the
ability to
defocus backgrounds in a way that no other Four Thirds
lens can. The
rendition of out of focus backgrounds (bokeh) is on the
pleasant side
of neutral.

There is a lively Olympus DSLR discussion forum on the
DPReview site
where you are likely to find several people who are using
this lens on
an Olympus body. It would be worth subscribing (if you
haven't
already) and posting a question the

Thanks; I already have the Zuiko 50mmF2.0 prime lens, and
the sharpness is very good indeed, and I don't miss a zoom
facility all that much. The F2.0 50mm is significantly
sharper than any zoom I have (the E500 kit lens, and the
Wide Angle 7 - 14 zoom(this being good for shooting in
alleyways, and for building shots)). If I buy the 25mm
f/1.4 Leica D Lens it would round off my kit perfectly -
though it is a bit expensive.
