Lost in the noise: No more Konica film
With all the fuss over Konica-Minolta getting out of the camera
business, I haven't seen much about the fact that they're also going to stop making film and photo paper after March of next year. I never used Konica film myself, but I know people who are fans of it. I assume that there will be no more Konica minilabs for C-41 processing/printing, though I haven't seen it specifically mentioned. http://news.com.com/Konica+Minolta+a...l?tag=nefd.top -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com |

Konica was never the player in the US Minilab business that Kodak and Sony were. This was unfortunate as their Impresa 50 was a fantastic portrait film with the most incredible blues I've seen using a C41 film. I've read that there's a special Impresa "channel", I presume only available on a Konica machine, that provides optimal image quality. I've printed Impresa on Kodak paper with very good results. I would be nice if Fuji picked up some of the Konica film line, but doubtful. |

doubtful. Fuji would be mental not to cherry pick Agfa and Konica if you ask me, just look at Konica's unit sales, they are still doing plenty business. wrote in message ... I really liked their ISO 100 film. I assume that the exposure meters
(wonderful ones) and the film scanners are history too? "Mark Roberts" wrote in message ... There are plenty of wonderful exposure meters from Sekonic, Gossen and others and plenty of wonderful film scanners from Nikon and others, so don't shed too many tears. The film scanner market is rapidly diminishing in any case. |

Fuji is going to make supplies for the orphaned Agfa minilabs, so there's a chance they may do the same for Konica. -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com |

Unlike SLR's with system lenses and flashes and other accessories. I've had 2 Sekonic meters and one Minolta. (I now have only a Sekonic). But it wouldn't matter if I had the Minolta, it would last for another 20 years and be perfectly serviceable throughout. Frankly I don't like the Sekonic as much as the Minolta's (ergonomics) but the Sekonics with the optical spot meters are very good and very practical. (L-558 in my case) I have a Minolta scanner, but will soon get a Nikon 9000 ED for medium format. So the 5400 will be sold for a song for the lucky buyer. I know a few people who are fierce defenders of some Konica films, notably portrait negative films for weddings. I've never used it myself. So it's sad that these will be dropped.
