Their products are highly questionable value anyway. I'm surprised to hear

Default ROXIO REBATE SCAM

Rebates are the most wide spread consumer scam in the United States.
No matter what you do to keep track of what you send, etc. it is essentially
random whether the rebate will be honored.
Whenver possible rebates should be avoided and should not be the deciding
factor on whether to purchase an item or not. If you shop carefully you can
usually, but not always, find the item somewhere from a reliable vendor at
the "rebate" price without having to play the rebate sweepstakes. Costco,
for example, usually gives the rebate at the cash register or allows you to
register on the internet so there is no scam about sending in the right bar
code, etc.
I know of no major manufacturer/distributor whose rebate schemes are
anything but schemes and are reliable. A store like Costco can choose to
minimize the rebate risk, but few do. There is no reason an item simply
cannot be offered at a specific sale price. However with rebates, even if
the manufacturer intends to honor the rebate, the manufacturer knows that a
significant percent of buyers will never send the rebate coupon in. Hence a
rebate is cheaper than a discounted sale price.
Caveat empty your pocket.

Yeah, I got screwed by Canon's rebate company a year or two ago...

On the other hand I did manage a Roxio rebate or two, but their rebate
handler certainly did what they could to make a struggle out of it.

IMHO - stay away from the damned rebates!! OfficeMax and a few other
stores have done away with them.

{cue yet another month long running rage war thread on rebates...}

There were class action lawsuits brought against companies for screwing
people over rebates several years ago. I would have thought they had
learned. I turn in every rebate offer I get and so far have gotten all of
them back. I have a $10 one in the wings from D-Link and a $35 from Canon.

It sounds like you were made whole again, but for anyone mistreated buy a
rebate offer, do not sit idle. Complain to the proper authorities.

OK, fair enough, but what would you suggest as a comparable alternative?
