Problem mounting Vivitar 28mm 1:2 on Pentax MZ-6
My problem is I purchased a second hand Vivitar 28mm 1:2 Auto Wide-Angle lens, Pentax K-mount. However the lens does not actually go far enough into my Pentax MZ-6 camera mount to be able to rotate it to lock into the mount. Is this a known problem with this lens/body combination, or could it be a fault with either the lens or the camera? I thought that any Pentax K-mount lens would be able to attach to the MZ-6. Any clues? Thanks, Leigh. |

Do you have a Pentax lens that fits/works with this body? Have you compared this lens to a working lens? Is the aperture lever bent? Does anything look bent or damaged? Do you have a warranty? Can you return the lens or did you get screwed at ebay? Good luck with your problem. |

You can damage the metering coupling pin on a ZX/MZ series camera if you do. (This is the voice of bitter experience speaking.) I once got a used Vivitar Series One 70-210 zoom. It was labelled as a Pentax K-mount zoom, but it didn't fit correctly. It was only after I damaged the mount on my ZX-M that I notice that someone had swapped the Pentax mount for one from a different system. Apparently someone had scavenged a different mount and put it on the lens. It was only after doing the damage that I notice that the mount, though close in size to a Pentax K-mount, was not what was labelled. (Except for metering, the camera still works.) I would not be surprised if the same thing has been done to your lens. Warren B. Hapke |

It is due to the extra generous flange on the mount of this lens. http://www.mail-archive.com/pentax-d...msg109462.html gives some details of the flange and how to remove it. Leigh. |

Are you going to grind off the flange? Sounds desperate to me and I'm well equipped to handle such a task. But if you can't return it then at least you might be able to make it useable, provided you haven't already damaged the body. Let me know how it turns out. me |
