Hi.

I have never found a pocketable point and shoot camera with a very
wide-angle lens. So I have to lug around an SLR if I need, say, the
field of view of a 20mm.

Is there a truly compact P&S camera on the market with something as
wide as a 20mm or wider? Perhaps the closest thing would be a Bessa
RF with the 21mm, but that's not so convenient or affordable.

Thanks for reading my post!

The only thing I can think of is the Ricoh GR21, with its 21mm f3.5. Sadly
no longer in production. Whilst it is in many ways an excellent camera,
used ones are currently ludicrously over-priced.

Sorry I missed your post originally.

The Ricoh GR21 was a killer wide angle at 21mm, but is now extinct. Old
stock and used models are around, but scarce.

Voigtlander are supposed to be announcing new models soon, all guesses point
to AE rangefinders. Stick a 15mm or 21mm on one and you practically have a
point and shoot.

Both ways will be expensive. Cheapest way would be a used Bessa L and 21mm
lens.

Why not get a regular P&S and then add a wide-angle lens to it? My
Oly-750 is 38-380 equivalent. With a Raynox 0.66x wide-angle lens (DCR
6600Pro) you will get 25mm. Just giving an example. Lots of other P&S
accept add-on lenses for wide angle.

Cheers,

Siddhartha

S

The Bessa with a 12mm lens is in focus from 1 foot to infinity and
it sure is superwide! You can see some examples on my web site.
You still have to set exposure, though..
