Hong Kong camera stores - recent news
For any of you who get to Hong Kong, Tin Cheung Camera Company has
moved shop. They're now at 6B Carnarvon Road, Kowloon. This is about five minutes' walk from their old spot in the arcade at 100 Nathan Road. The new location fronts right on the street and is decidedly cleaner, neater, and more spacious. All the used gear is on the second floor. They still have about the lowest prices in town on new gear, but don't expect to talk the price down on new stuff (used is a completely different matter). Another place that had some interesting used stuff (like a 135mm f/3.5 Zeiss Planar, multicoated but not T*, in shutter, with miniscule cleaning marks, US$1000) is David Chan Company, Shop 15, Champagne Court, 16 Kimberley Rd next to the Mirama Hotel, also in Kowloon. David speaks very good English. I learned of this place, which is a little hard to find, from a local pro, a friend of my wife's uncle, who claims this is *the* place to go for used gear. Steve |

The exception to this is a Rollei MC lens which is HFT regardless of if it is a Zeiss, Schneider, Rolleinar, Rolleigon, etc. OK, I didn't realize that. The lens was not marked as multicoated in any way, but it clearly was given the multitude of colors reflected from the various surfaces. |

Hong Kong camera stores - recent news
Thanks for this post. I bought a Mamiya 7II and full set of lenses from
Tin Cheung years ago, but my recent faxes to them have gone unanswered. Now I know it is because they have moved and changed their fax number. From you post, I was able to find their web site (which they didn't have in the past) and am able to re-establish contact with them. Unfortunately, I am unable to find contact information for David Chan Company. Do you have a web site, fax number or email address for them? |
