Default Photo shoot in Stowe, Vermont

I am heading up to Stowe Vermont in October to take photos of the fall color.
Does anyone have any tips or locations for the Stowe area?

Smuggler's Notch on the north side of Mount Mansfield, the Lake
Memphremagog area by the Canadian border and the back roads in
between.

1. Go early in October. Even by the second weekend, you could be past
peak in the higher elevations.
2. Covered Bridges. Yes, they are a cliche, but for a good reason. 14
of them in the area, according to http://www.stowesmugglers.com/
3. If you're up to some moderate hiking, Camel's Hump State park.
4. If you're there on a weekday and have patience with traffic, the
Lake Champlain Islands.
5. The Auto Toll Road at Mount Mansfield. Check hours, though, as
they shut off access before "magic hour."
6. I haven't been able to talk my wife into a Hot Air balloon ride,
but perhaps you'll be luckier.
7. If you're travelling with kids, take in the Ben & Jerry's tour.
8. Stay aware of traffic. There are a fair number of accidents every
year because of people stopping unexpectedly to catch an interesting
scene.
