And in the article they claim that the human eye has a
resolution of 120MP.

Which is relevant as a comparison. If a camera has that much resolution
w/o too much noise then a wide field image could produce a lot of detail
in one shot. That would be very useful - if not for more traditional
photography.

Chinese scientists have developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabling 500 megapixel cloud camera system able to capture thousands of faces at a stadium in perfect detail and generate their facial data for the cloud while locating a particular target in an instant.

"Most Chinese experts welcomed the camera system's military, national defense and public security applications, although some expressed data safety and privacy concerns."

Makes it easier to round-up people for the re-education camps.

Hong Kong protesters have discovered the joys of lasers as practiced in
other freedom of speech countries such as Egypt...

Human eye only has that much if you consider the entire field. Acute
resolution is a narrow angle and nowhere near that 120MP.

Have a chat with somebody suffering from age related macular degeneration.

Much "great" photography is age (period) related....telling a story not absolutely relying on
resolution.
