Default Wired remote for Nikon D70s

Although I currently have a D70, I'm thinking of trading up to the D70s
because I like the idea of a wired remote (the wireless remote is limited
in usefulness because of the position of the IR sensor on the camera
body). However, I'm told that the cable for the wired remote is only
about 3 feet long! Is this true? That would be almost useless for me.
Are longer cables available? I'd want around 15 feet (5 metres).

The following link is what you need to extend the Nikon 10 pin wired
remotes:

Nikon says they are 9.8 feet so 2 would give you 19.6 feet plus the 1
meter you get with the remote itself. I would guess that would be more
than enough based on your post.

There are also several radio remotes available, but for substantially
more money.

Hope this helps,
Dave

However, the D70S MC-DC1 remote does NOT use the 10 pin remote... The
MC-DC1 appears to be 4 pins at connector, but dont know how many wires (I'd
guess less). It is only the one button, but it does have a half-down focus
position, and a mechanical lock. It is probably easy to splice in a longer
wire extension, with little risk. There are much cheaper Chinese equivalents
of it on Ebay.... just search for MC-DC1 to find the cheapies.
