Default D70 noise?

I do lots of night shots hand held with my D70 at ISO 1600. This returns
lost of images that are "Under exposed" to get the most out of them I
"push" them in Photoshop. This does reveal noise but it is not much

worse
than pushing 1600 film.

Have you enabled the noise reduction in the D70?

No I don't turned on noise reduction as noise reduction only kick in at
exposures longer than on second. I mentioned that my shots are hand held so
I never shooting slower than 1/30.

Ok, you might want to try software like Dfine or similar noise reductions
software. I could never get dfine demo to work in photoshop (fails with
program error), but you might have better success.

Thank you for the tip on Dfine. I was not complaining about the noise at
high ISO with the Nikon D70, I was merely telling someone how much to
expect at the worst situation. In fact I am very satisfied at how little
noise the camera produces for the type of work I am doing. Still it is
good to know what tools are available to me if I should need them.
