Seemed to me that the message (if there was one) was that if you want better service from HSBC, cut an onion before you go in the door, and make up some vague and tragic story about your granddad. If that doesn't seem ethical, then consider it as exactly what they did, but you didn't need a large budget and a movie production team to execute the plan. "We care" advertising will hopefully be consigned to the dustbin soon - it's very dishonest, and done to death.
