The scam that says a sensor has to be 2x the price just because it
has twice the pixels. Hint Nikon?

In Canada the 7D body is $2100 at your beloved Henry's. I think everyone
else in Canada will sell it at $1999.99

Last I knew, the Canadian dollar was worth more than ours. Why should the
camera cost $300 more in Canada?

You're not keeping up. Today's rate, per Yahoo Finance site, says
that one $ US is worth 1.0847 Canadian.

Guess you don't watch XCHG rates much. Cad $ is about 92 US cents at
present and expected to reach parity in 2009 (and probably fall again
after that...). The CDN economy has not been nearly as hard hit as the
US (our banks are more conservative).

The a850 should be priced at about CAD$2225 to be at par with US and
Brit prices (does the Brit price include VAT?). Here prices are quoted
w/o tax so add another 11 - 13% depending on province.

Always, unless the store's accounts show that the majority of their
sales are to other businesses which will reclaim the VAT.

In that case you're really being ripped.

£1700 =~ CAD$3000.

Here it's $2500 + tax, call it 2821 =~ £1600

In the US: US$2000, with tax about $2140 (dep on state) =~ £1310.

As if you actually needed to tell anyone from the UK that. Ha.

Most importantly, I suppose, your country hasn't been run by Dictator General
Richard Cheney (and his stooge George Bush) for the past eight years.

Gee, Alan, I know you see the world through a Sony lens, but actually we were
talking about the Canon 7D. ;^)

They are in the U.S. too, although the tax rate in most states is only about
half to two thirds of the rates you quote.
