Point & Shoot 4x5
I have a Super Graphic with normal 135mm Optar, 90mm Angulon, 270mm Arton.
What I want to end up with is basically a 4x5 point & shoot so I can change a lens, change a cam, move infinity stops and go. Now I only have the 135 cam and lensboard. Can I get cams made for the 90 & 270? Where can I get lensboards? I haven't seen any on ebay lately. -- George Dubya Bush: Halliburton's Monica Lewinsky |

Point & Shoot 4x5
Cams used to be available for most popular focal lengths. Search out the
Graflex camera repair sites. The same goes for the infinity stops. The Graphic infinity stops fold down and out of the way, so it is possible to mount more than one set at a time. Use the Ground glass with each lens to make a footage scale for each lens on the bed. Use the existing range finder and the 135mm scale to get the distance then look at the other scales you have pre-marked and set the appropriate hand made one to the same footage. This will work excellently. I used to shoot news photos with a crown. When changing lenses we never had time to change the cams - takes way too long. So we didn't even buy them. Just be sure to stop down as much as hand holding will allow. You should be able to find the stops, but if not just mark where the lens standard is supposed to go. You will find a lot of old news graphics that have the beds marked up, scratched up and taped over for these reasons. Don't over look the sports finder either - it does work. |
