Default Bottom line LCD producing top line editing images

There's been a plethora of claims lately that an LCD screen is junk
for Photo editing. They're not and you don't have to do as I did and
spend a monster bunch of bucks on expensive screens only to find that
cheap ones work pretty well too !

At the heart of it all is the ability to manipulate the way your
display card sends colour information to the screen in ways its (it's)
maker never intended you to! To do this I used a program called "Power
Strip". A quaint little RGB gamma adjuster comes with this program
which then accesses controls on my Asus, PCI Express display card
which uses a Nvidia chip and has 500 meg of video ram, to produce
amazingly correct colour and gamma.

The system I used for this demo has a 21" "LG Flatron Wide" monitor
with 2000:1 contrast ratio. I also discovered that by using a display
card with a "Digital output" connector and using a digital cable, the
PC did not need to convert digital VGA data to analogue, only to be
converted back to digital by the screen! This itself made a quantum
change to how the screen actually worked.

It's working in a colour balanced network where all the PCs match
Xerox and Minolta digital laser printers, an r2400 (Epson) Inkjet, A
CD/DVD printer and a 9800 (Epson) wide format printer. I've only
included those prints which I could clip on the screen to take a photo
of it! I'm sure you can fill in the blanks yourselves!
